A Christmas Carol is a story by English author Charles Dickens. It was first published by Chapman & Hall on December 19, 1843. It tells the story of bitter old miser Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformation resulting from supernatural visits by Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Yet to Come. The story met with instant success and  critical acclaim. It has been adapted to other media including film, opera, ballet and Broadway musicals.

LaVerne Shank portrayed the role of Timothy Cratchit, called "Tiny Tim",  the young son of Bob Cratchet, and serves as an important symbol of the consequences of the protagonist's choices in this amateur theatre group production.
